Boundaries: Family- Who is my family? 7/26/23

In our Boundaries series, Donnivane led a meaningful discussion about family boundaries. We explored the concept of family and examined the impact of power dynamics, rules, influence, and hurt on our current relationships. We also discussed the significance of seeking healing and support from people outside our family. The stories shared by some members of the FirstNLR community served as a reminder of God’s love and desire for us to cultivate healthy relationships by addressing past hurts and promoting healing. 

Boundaries: You, Work, and Boundaries

Tracye kicked off our new series of Boundaries starting with boundaries in the work environment. We discussed how God is our source and our job is just a resource. The need for rest and joy. The struggle with creating boundaries and holding boundaries. Some of the scriptures discussed were Colossians 3:23; Philippians 4:13, 19; Romans 8:32; and Psalm 37:4-5.

Life_lessons_week_7.5.23

Sharon concluded our Life lessons series sharing her life testimony of Romans 8:28 and Psalm 34:18! God is always near and always has a hand on your life even in your brokenness! Find your place and people you can lean on because you can’t do it alone! Remember he is always with you!

Life Lessons 6.28.23

Jasmine's story of discovering God and His love is truly inspiring. She has learned some valuable lessons along the way, and one thing she firmly believes in is that knowing God is the key to understanding the true meaning of love. As it says in Matthew 22:37-40, God should always come first in our lives, and He desires our hearts above all else. Without Him, our good works are meaningless, as Revelations 2:2-5 reminds us. But the great news is that we can always return to God, even if we unintentionally lose sight of Him. His love is sacrificial and incomparable, and nothing in this world can match His unfailing, consistent, unconditional, and everlasting love.

 

Jasmine's experience of God's transformational power is a testament to this truth. She now knows her worth and understands that we are never alone. Even in the hardest seasons of life, God is with us, strengthening our faith and reminding us of His love and protection. Satan's ultimate goal is to distract us from God's unique plan and purpose for our lives, but we can overcome his schemes by never forgetting our first encounter with God's presence. Let that encounter carry us through our journey, and always remember that our Heavenly Father is by our side.

Life Lessons 6/21/23

Donnivane shared some of his Life Lessons this week. He shared how God is always with us, relentlessly pursuing us, and never leaves, no matter what we face or where we go. God is faithful! A fantastic night of testimony and a reminder that God has a plan for your life that will take you out of your comfort zone; he is always with you. It takes trust and surrender. God is always faithful. Let’s return the favor.

Panel Discussion 6/7/23

Tonight was the Panel Discussion, and in true Journey fashion, we only answered a couple of questions regarding suffering and salvation by returning to the beginning of Genesis.

Graces Series Week 3 - A Fish called Grace 5/31/23

Interruptions and setbacks don't define us; they only reveal what's already inside. Like water spilling from a glass, they expose our toxic traits and self-centeredness. But don't lose hope! Through trials and adversity, God is working to redeem us and turn our mistakes into miracles. Just like Jonah prayed from the belly of a fish, we, too, can call out to God for help and restoration. So confess your need for Him and watch as He transforms your life. You are not alone, and you are not defined by your mistakes. You are a child of God, and with His grace, you can overcome anything!

Grace Series Week 2- 5/24/23

Hey J-Fam, Tonight we continued our Grace Series. Highlights from tonight's discussion "Grace is the unmerited favor of God that we don't deserve, but He freely gives it to us. It's not about what we can do for God but what He has already done for us. So let go of shame and accept God's Grace in your life. He wants you to come back home. Remember, Grace is not a license to sin but an empowering force to live a life that pleases God. So recognize your sins, repent, and move on. God's Grace is sufficient. Let His supernatural power be your strength.

Grace Series: The Processing of Grace_5.17.23

Hey J-Fam! Tonight, I discussed "The Processing of Grace." No matter what you're going through, you are important to God, and no situation is bigger than Him. His grace is sufficient for us, including supernatural ease, another chance, covering, forgiveness, patience, humbleness, kindness, guardrail, and understanding.

Remember, God has put the very best stuff in you, and you are a masterpiece. So don't subject yourself to things that mean no good and abuse the grace given to us. Instead, be humble and grateful, recognizing that grace shatters pride and arrogance. Even when we face hardship and pain, God's gift of grace is enough to carry us.

Let's also be willing to show God-like grace no matter what anyone has done, including forgiving ourselves. Again, this is not a license to sin but rather a reminder to give ourselves the grace that God gives.

So, let's appropriate His grace for daily living and give grace to others. His grace is undeserved, but He gives it anyway. Let us remember the words of the hymn, "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me." May every step we take be one of grace and show the love of God to all.
