Love is...Week 3 -5 Symptoms of a Sick Heart 2.22.23
Wednesday Feb 22, 2023
Wednesday Feb 22, 2023
Tonight we continued our Love is ...series by watching a video from the Heart Rehab Series: Five Symptoms of a Sick Heart by Issac Curry, discussing the relationships of Samson in Judges 14 & 16. In the footage, Issac shared the symptoms of a sick heart, including a tendency to rush the relationship, self-abandonment, choosing to cohabitate over courting, settling for almost relationships, and continuing patterns in every relationship. Bonus notes: you can't fake healthy, and the pain we are given is often the pain we pass on, ghosting isn’t new, and you deserve commitment, respect, communication, consistency, and reciprocity! If you think you have a sick heart, rehab is possible, and it starts with putting your patterns on the altar, rediscovering yourself, chasing after God, and choosing holiness! We ran out of time but briefly discussed the passages’ context and how we must be mindful when applying them to our context today. We love you all and are praying for you! Next week we will wrap up our Love is... series!

Love is...Week 2-2.15.23

Wednesday Feb 15, 2023
Love is… week two discussion did not disappoint. Demetrius shared the struggle and scriptures about denying ourselves, loving and restoring others, maturing in God, and love blockers (wrong motives, self-sufficiency vs. God-focused, God-oriented, wrong mindset, and immaturity).
Highlights: Love is a standard; God wants us to be willing, cooperative, and participate in God’s love and His Will. When did God stop being the God of all? The same grace abounds to us and abounds to others, and we need to be able to give it to others. Check my heart and barriers. Love has to be constant and consistent. Love is work and can be painful. Everything is better together, and we must encourage and strengthen one another.
The Holy Spirit is our teacher and wants to teach us. If you do not know how to love, when to love, or need development, ask the teacher to teach, help, guide, and comfort you while you learn.
Scriptures: Matt. 16:24-25, Gal. 6:1-5, Matt. 22: 34-40, Gal. 5:13, Lev. 19:18, 2 Cor. 9:6-8, 2 Cor. 3:4-5, John 14:23-26, Heb. 10:24-25
Love you, J-Fam

Wednesday Feb 08, 2023
Hi Journey Fam!! We started our new "Love is..." series and had a great discussion tonight! First, we defined the word "love" and how our definition is different from God's love. We discussed how we love those who have hurt us. We walked through 1 John 4:7-12 and unpacked how God showed His love and challenged us to do the same. We discussed the power and need for a deep relationship with God and the little moments He wants to share with us. The homework is to read 1 Cor. 13. Remember to have faith in all circumstances. We are never hopeless and are always loved!
Themes:
Love is central.
Love initiates.
God lives in us.
Love frees us from fear.
So let us learn to LOVE and show it to others!

Identity: Am I My Experience(s)? 1.25.23
Wednesday Jan 25, 2023
Wednesday Jan 25, 2023
Tonight was another powerful discussion on how we process and view our experiences. Some of the points from tonight's discussion were "the things God allows us to go thru are never meant for our detriment but always to draw us closer, more dependent on Him, to perfect us, help us see ourselves & our purpose(s) from His perspective. God does not take the time to perfect anything considered a waste (You are God's investment. as a matter of fact, He calls us His masterpiece (Eph. 2:8-10). This is only scratching the surface. We also discussed God's timing, Romans 5:1-5 & 8:15-18, the fact that we are Heirs of Christ, and why that is so important to our identity in Christ. We love you and are praying for each of you!

Tonight was Identity Remix; we started with a great discussion and honest reflection about how we determine our self-worth and what God says! Then we discussed process, stewardship, the importance of daily time with God, and how we are the representatives of Christ to everyone. We also discussed how we cannot let the opinions of others change how we view ourselves, and our worth does not change no matter what we have done. It was a great night, and I can't wait for Identity part 4 with Donnivane next week! Love you and praying for you, J-Fam. The video and link to the podcast are below!
